The Bang Bang Theories

Keep On Rocking Me

Friday night went down here with a steak & wine dinner for one and I’m not mad about that situation, Reader.

I’ve decided to reverse course a bit on drinking.

Last year I lost my interest in drinking. I would still have a little drinkie poo at an event or on vacay and it was more than enough.

And then this year, I kicked off New Years at a swanky ticketed event and it was fun AF and also had a room dedicated to champagne and it was just an overall good time with dancing and eating and cocktailing.

We didn’t over-indulge.

We just indulged.

Now, it was a top-shelf all-inclusive liquor event, and we were feeling good when our ride showed up who was also My Mister who didn’t go to the event with us, but I did smuggle a bowl of treats including oysters and several of these shrimp as his payment for our safe passage home.

And the next day I thought, “I kinda like champs and maybe want to add more of that to my New Year.” And then I booked an event to taste various champs, including a pour of Dom Perignon, because while I pretend Taylor Swift and I are living the exact same life, only one of us can afford Tuesday Night Dom Perignon, and that one isn’t me. I can’t afford Friday Night or Saturday Night Dom Perignon. I mean, I guess I could as a one-time thing, but not just on a whim.

So I wanted to give it a taste, and see if it’s worthy of a two hundred dollar bill.

Bad news, Reader.

It is.

It’s delicious.

So anyway, all that leads us to where we are right now, which is me having a glass of the red wine I opened last night which is a super juicy red, and ya know, I’m not raising babies or driving or doing actually anything more than sitting here rewatching old sitcoms and typing nonsense to you, which is a perfectly acceptable environment to have a glass of juicy red.

I guess what I’m saying is that maybe 2025 is the Year of the Cocktail. I’m pretty sure that’s an official Zodiac celebration.

I had that little peanut butter whiskey on my January vacation and it came with a teensy weensy pb&j sammy and it was quite a clever cocktail.

I didn’t come here to tell ya’ll* that I’ve decided to become a drinker, but I guess the message is more of just because I was one thing last year, doesn’t mean I can’t change my mind now.

I’m open to evolving.

*drinking wine tonight made me southern.

Today I made the decision to COMMIT, which I have super-avoided. Not to drinking, that’s not getting a commitment from me. I may change my mind next month on that.

But! I committed to being an athlete with a two-year sign up vs. my month-to-month plan. I save $20 a month, which after one year that savings could actually buy me a bottle of Dom, or an airline ticket. And I made an appointment to meet with a personal trainer who will teach me how to use some of the machines I avoid because 1. I don’t know how to properly use them or 2. I don’t know how to adjust the seats or 3. Sometimes I can’t get the weights adjusted.

So i’m going to be shown how and level up my athletic routine.

It’s apparently an Anything Goes New Year, Reader.  I’m excited to learn what I decide next.
